27 February 2015
Thursday, 19 February 2015. It is the University of Edinburgh’s “Innovative Learning Week”. The students of Finance and Investment have been burying their heads in books for days, preparing for midterms and working on several group projects. Time for a break.
Luckily, the F&I-Team saw it the same way! For this reason, they invited us to TenPin Bowling for food, drinks and some sporting activity. We met at the Business School and started the afternoon with a 20-minute walk through the sunny city of Edinburgh. When we arrived at TenPin, a picture of the enthusiastic group was taken before we got down to business.
As soon as everybody was equipped with bowling shoes, Burgers with chips were ordered and beverages were served, we felt ready to roll. We formed groups of 4 to 6 people and started bowling. For the following two hours and on several alleys, the most exotic and extravagant strategies and techniques have been tried out to knock down as many pins as possible, some of them resulting in impressive scores. Although some students got very close, the highest game score of the day – an unbeatable 144 !!! – was achieved by our student development manager, Neil.
In the end, however, it did not matter who hit the most pins. Leaving the bowling alley with smiles on our faces, we were not only fuelled up for further study-sessions and group meetings to come, but also very glad to have had this fun time with our colleagues and friends.
