The Renewable Energy World Conference and Expo is the largest event in renewable energy industry in Europe. The conference is a platform where consultants, solution providers, investors and academicians come together to discuss about the future of renewable energy in Europe. It is an annual conference and exhibition organized by PennWell group. The 2016 edition of the event was hosted in MiCo Milano Congressi in Milan, Italy from 21 to 23 June. The event was under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development.
The conference was inaugurated on 21 June with a key note address by Mr Nigel Blackaby, Director of Conferences, PennWell. The exhibition was open for visitors on the same day. The exhibition showcased solutions and services from all around the world in energy sector. The exhibition floor was packed with visitors from all industrial sectors. The exhibitors varied from conventional power generation technologies and services to futuristic renewable energy generation and storage technologies. Another key area of focus in the exhibition was the finance and investment in renewable energy. Financial institutions and government bodies which supports investment in sustainability and renewable energy covered a major part of the exhibition.
The conference sessions started on 22 June. The conference was split into 10 channels which covered different areas in the field of renewable energy. The European Policy, Direction and Finance Channel covered areas of cost reliability, different financial hurdles project developers encounter in Europe and Challenges of equity investors in the energy market. This channel also covered a few case studies which discussed the point of views of suppliers, NGOs and other stake holders in different projects. Another channel which was of great interest among the delegates was Renewable strategy, Projects and Technology. The sessions in this channel was filled with speakers with great experience in the sector. The two day sessions in this channel discussed about different renewable technologies, operational strategies for projects, portfolio strategies and different challenges & opportunities in renewable energy industry. The highlight of this channel was the success stories of the renewable projects presented in the conference. The projects showcased included Bio power plants from Croatia and France a mid-sized wind farm from Turkey.
Apart from the informative sessions of the conference the event was an excellent opportunity to network. The delegates for the event included consultants, energy managers, portfolio managers, project developers, sustainability managers, academicians and so on. The networking dinner and lunches were filled with informal discussions and knowledge exchange. The exhibition which happened in parallel to the conference showcased the best technologies and services in renewable energy sector. This helped in communicating with the representatives of the companies and getting to know more about the emerging trends in the market.
The next edition of the conference will be held in Cologne, Germany in June 2017. The Renewable Energy World Conference and Expo is definitely the best platform for professionals and businesses to network, share ideas, explore business opportunities and learn from the best around the world.
