Do you have career or self-development goals that you have not yet achieved? Employers want graduates who are self-aware, capitalise on their strengths, who will have an impact wherever they work and who are committed to their personal development and the way it impacts other people.

The Award is designed with the purpose of developing your self-awareness and empowering you to take personal responsibility for your own development.

You can largely self-design the Award to your own interests and goals while participating in group sessions, coaching, peer networking opportunities, and skills workshops on topics such as leadership, resilience, influencing, time management and presentation skills. The Award group sessions, coaching and reflection are compulsory to give some structure to the process while the remaining components can be chosen by the student to suit their own interests.

By proactively working on your own development, you can gain official recognition through the Edinburgh Award. As well as receiving an official certificate from the University, the achievement will be recognised on your academic transcript.

A key component of the Edinburgh Award is two 1-to-1 coaching sessions with a professional coach. Session One is about motivation and setting an action plan around your development, while Session Two is focused on reflecting on activities to date and sustainability.
